The “Harlem Shake” made waves across the country last year as high school students in creative, colorful costumes danced it up in viral videos.
Thanks to a national contest launched by pop megastar Katy Perry  on Good Morning America, we appear to have our school spirit song of 2013.
Students from all over the country have posted their own music videos for Perry’s hit song, “Roar” on YouTube in an effort to get the quirky singer to perform at their school on Oct. 25.
Two of the five finalists have already been revealed this week, but Whitman High School  in Bethesda is hoping to hear its name called among the remaining three schools.
Here’s Whitman’s rendition, complete with a starring role from the Vikings’ mascot, some Perry-like star power from lip-syncher Madison Walser, cameos from teachers, the wrestling team, the pom squad, the always-spirited swim team, the sign language club and a little upside drumming from the marching band for good measure. The Vikings also used their video to promote a fundraising campaign that has generated more than $91,000  for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
